Newfor methodologies implemented in other projects

The methodologies of resource and accessibility (Sylvaccess) mapping developed during the Newfor project have been implemented in three projects involving Irstea.

  • Project PlanEter: the tools were used to map the fuelwood resource in the Bas-Valais (Switzerland). Project report on fuelwood mapping (french)
  • Project Forest Resource in Auvergne: the tools were used to map the forest resource in the Auvergne region (France). Project report (french)
  • Project Foresee: the tools and methodology were tested in a very large area of 1362 km2 in the Vosges mountains.

Those projects made it possible to test the methodologies in larger areas, with operational datasets, and to enhance the analysis by using local information from managers.
