Forest timber resources mobilization problems are common to all Alpine space countries:

  • poor knowledge of growing stocks;
  • absence of economical evaluation of accessibility to forest resources;
  • no evaluation of the whole supply chain connectivity to wood industries.

Until now these problems have only been addressed at national scale. Due to the complexity of the topic and the wide variety of problems and fields of action, the transnational sharing and improvement of methods is required to guarantee:

  • the capitalization and harmonization of knowledge and know-how;
  • the implementation of efficient mountain timber resources mobilization strategies across all Alpine space countries.

The project brings together researchers and managers from the six alpine space countries. The NewFor consortium includes 14 institutes:
